Brian has a degree in studio music and jazz from the University of Miami, and is a producer, songwriter, and professional bass player. You can find him working “hands-on” in some aspect with every project recorded at his studio. Brian is also an partner in artist management company, Verge Management.
Brian has played with major recording artists including John Michael Montgomery (Atlantic, Warner Brothers, Stringtown Records), Josh Turner (MCA), Clint Black (Equity), Billy Gilman (Sony), John Berry (Capitol) and Laura Bryna (Equity). Brian has played bass on televised performances of: The Grand Ole Opry, CMT’s Most Wanted Live, The CBS Morning Show, and The Wayne Brady Show.
Brian has made recording trivia history! He is featured on a technology question that relates to music recording in the 2004 Trivial Pursuit game: 90’s Time Capsule Edition.
Chief Engineer: GREG STRIZEK
Greg has a Bachelor of Music degree in recording and percussion from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. Some of his engineering credits include: Dolly Parton, Rodney Atkins (Curb), Chris Cagel (Capitol), Blake Shelton (Warner Bros.), Jo Dee Messina (Curb), Radney Foster (Dualtone), Terry Clark (Mercury), Selah (Curb), Joe Diffie, Delbert McClinton, Gene Watson, Hal Ketchum, Patti Page, Billy Dean, Todd Smith (Curb), and Plumb (Curb), among others. In addition, Greg has extensive experience working on many independent recording projects. Greg is also a professional drummer who has played with numerous artists such as guitar virtuoso Johnny Hiland (Favored Nations recording artist).
Engineer: DAVE BATES
Dave is a graduate of Trebas Institute of Recording Arts in Hollywood, California. He has also completed world famous producer/engineer Rogers Nichols’ Mixing Master Class at the Digidesign training center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dave has engineered in numerous studios including Prince’s studio, Paisley Park (Chanhassen, MN), Red Zone (Burbank, CA) Metro Studios (Minneapolis, MN), and Omega Studios (Rockville, MD). He also has worked as Staff Engineer at Valley Center Studios (Van Nuys, CA) and as Chief Engineer at The Green Room (Nashville, TN).
Dave’s album credits include Everlast (Island Def Jam) and Earth Wind & Fire’s Philip Bailey. He has also worked with major label recording artists Dave Koz and Take 6 (recording the theme song for the Martin Lawrence television series). Dave has engineered demos sessions for publishing companies including Warner/Chappel, Zomba, and Famous Music.

Producer/Engineer - We are available to Produce / Engineer your project at any studio that you choose. We have worked with clients that use multiple studios to get the job done. We use Verge Recording as our home base, but we have worked in many of Nashville’s other top recording studios as well.
Recording Budget - We can help you put together the best possible project with the budget you have to work with.
Song Selection/Licensing - We can help you obtain songs to record and make sure you properly license them for use. We can also arrange writing appointments with Nashville songwriters for your project.
Pre Production/Arrangement/Charts - We spend time finding the correct key for each song to fit your vocal range. We can arrange your songs and chart them out using the Nashville Number System so they are ready for the studio musicians to play at the tracking session.
Hiring Musicians - We have a great working relationship with Nashville’s A-list session players, union musicians and vocalists. We can help you get the right musicians for your project.

What are your rates for recording?
Please call or email for rates. We’d be happy to discuss your budget and recording project needs.
Can you record my vocal tracks over existing music tracks?
Yes! We can record your vocals over any existing music tracks that you have.
Can you get musicians for my recording project?
Yes! We can get all the musicians you need for your session. We use only professional studio musicians that are members of the musician's union. Most people choose to record in Nashville because of access to some of the best studio musicians in the world. We can help you get musicians from a single guitar player to an entire band for your project.
Can I bring my own musicians?
Yes! you can bring your own musicians and just pay for studio time.
What is a songwriter's demo?
A songwriter's demo is a recording for the purpose of pitching a song to a publishing company or artist.
What is a custom demo project?
A custom demo project is a recording for the purpose of pitching an artist to a record label or management company.
What is a custom CD project?
A custom CD project is a recording of an artist for the purpose of selling the music by CD or downloads.
What is a tracking session?
A tracking session is a recording session where the instruments are recorded. We have the ability to record from one instrument to a full band with live drums all at the same time.
What is mixing?
Mixing is when all the recorded tracks are blended to make the final mix. This is when all the volume levels are adjusted to the proper levels.
What is mastering?
Mastering is the final step in the recording process. Levels of songs are balanced and optimized.
What recording format do you use?
We record with Pro Tools HD2 Accel. We can record using .wav, .aiff, or mp.3 files. We can transfer or convert any file necessary for your session.
Can you pitch my song?
Verge Recording does not pitch songs. We are primarily a recording studio. Check our links page for useful resources for songwriters.
What types of music do you record at your studio?
We can record any type of music at Verge Recording; however, we specialize in country, rock, pop, jazz, and christian music.
